Chapter 51

"So, your last day." Tony sat down on the other side of the breakfast table.

"Yep."

"You packed?"

"Yep."

"We should do something cool, since who knows when you'll be back." Mischief glinted in Tony's eyes. "And I have the perfect idea."

"Oh? Now I'm worried."

"You probably should be."

You stood on the roof of Stark Tower helmet in your hands. "Are you sure this is safe?"

"No. But I'm sure it will be fun so who cares about safety? Now," Tony lowered the Iron Man face mask. "Put on your helmet, it's time to go for a ride."

You put on the helmet.

"Oxygen supply working. All vital signs are good." Jarvis said as he pulled up info in your helmet.

"Good to know, Jarvis. Keep me posted if anything changes." Tony picked you up bridal style. "Time to fly." You blasted off into the air.

"AHHHHHHH!" A scream of terror escaped your lips but soon turned to a scream of exhilaration. "Tony! This is amazing!"

"I know. I'm shocked we didn't think of this earlier. Wanna spin?"

"What?!"

"Hold on!" Tony's grip on you tightened and soon you found yourself flipped upside down for a fraction of a second.

"That was crazy!"

"It was fun!" You narrowly missed a building. "Ooo look paparazzi. Let's get you some good commemorative pics!" Tony swooped low above them. The cameras started snapping. "Another lap, I don't think they got my good side." Tony went around the building to pass them again. "Fun. Fun."

"That's going to be all over the tabloids the the morning."

"That's what makes it fun. I'll be sure to send you a copy." Tony looked up. "Let's see how high you can go." Tony turned and shot up towards the sky.

"AHHHH!"

"Fun isn't it?"

"Cold!"

"Okay! Okay! Lowering." Tony descended slowly. "Better?"

"Better."

The entire city lay before you. The buildings looked like toys and the cars couldn't be seen.

"Amazing isn't it?" Tony said seriously. "As many times as I see it, I never really get over it. It's just so beautiful." Tony looked at you  through the Iron Man mask. "Don't tell the others, they'll think I've gone soft."

"Secret's safe with me."

"Good. Let's get you back down, I promised Thor I'd give you back in one piece." Tony flew you back to Stark Tower at a leisurely pace. He placed you back on the solid roof.

You stumbled like a baby deer learning to walk as you regained feeling in your feet. "Thanks." You pulled off your helmet. "That was exciting."

"No problem." Tony pressed a button and the suit was absorbed by the tower. "You know, this doesn't have to be goodbye. You could stay if you want."

"Tony." You turned to face him. "I'm going home."

"No you're not." Tony put a hand on your shoulder. "You're going to Asgard. There's a difference." He took the helmet from you gently, his eyes never leaving yours. "Always remember that."

"I have a few odds and ends to pack." You brushed passed him.

"I'm giving you an out! Why don't you understand that?"

"I understand it, but I don't want it."

"I'm here if you need me."

"Thanks."
